You don’t have to look hard to find headlines referring to Jim Acosta as the anchor on CNN that Donald Trump hates the most.
So, the news Monday night was probably welcomed by the president. And that’s because, according to multiple reports, Acosta is leaving CNN after his it was announced last week that his show was being pulled from its 10 a.m. time slot.
CNN reportedly mulled over moving Acosta to a two-hour time slot at midnight, but he “struggled with the choice,” and is instead cutting his contract short with the network.
Acosta was best known for his time covering Trump’s first term in the White House when he and the president when the president, at times, didn’t care for his questions. And, in 2018, Trump even tried to have Acosta’s press pass revoked.
Trump famously told Acosta, “CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN,” at a press conference before accusing him of reporting fake news.
Acosta joined CNN in 2007 and also covered Barack Obama in the White House.
