GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Breezy and snowy weather is likely as we close out the weekend on a cold note.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 7 p.m. Sunday. This could be extended by the National Weather Service as more lake-effect snow is expected to fall leading into Monday morning.

TODAY Snow showers, slippery travel conditions
HIGH 27°
WIND Increasing NW 10-20 G 35 mph
TODAY We’ll begin the day with snow showers and freezing drizzle before hitting a lull later in the morning. The wind will flip to the NW and become quite strong with the potential for gusts exceeding 30 mph. The change in the wind direction will also feed in some lake-effect snow showers. Much of West Michigan will wind up with about 1-3 inches of new snowfall while a corridor from Ottawa County leading southeast toward Kalamazoo County may see closer to 5 inches. Temperatures make it into the middle and upper 20s.
TONIGHT Lake-effect snow loses intensity. Cloudy and chilling down as arctic air pours in with lows down near 10 degrees.
MONDAY A chance of lake-effect snow showers with light accumulations mainly west of US-131. Highs struggle to reach 15 degrees – about 20 degrees than what’s typical in mid-February.
LOOKING AHEAD It stays frigid through mid-week before a slow climb bringing West Michigan back near 30 degrees next weekend. Things appear to be quiet on the precipitation front with some on-going light snow chances for lakeshore communities, but no impactful major snow systems dialed up in the near future.
