Back-to-back earthquakes jolt Los Angeles area within hours

Los Angeles, CA (KTLA) โ€“ An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 rattled the L.A. metropolitan area early Saturday just hours after a 3.8-magnitude quake shook the Malibu area shortly before midnight Friday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck at 6:30 a.m. The epicenter was said to be 11 kilometers (about 6.8 miles), at a depth of 14.4 kilometers (about 8.7 miles).

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Saturday morningโ€™s temblor came soon after a 3.8-magnitude quake occurred near Malibu around 11:44 a.m.
