SEOUL (KTLA) — A former child star in South Korea, Kim Sae-ron, has died at the age of 24, according to reports.

The actress who appeared in “Bloodhounds” on Netflix, among other projects, was found dead Sunday at her home in Seoul, South Korea, according to Korean media outlets. Reuters confirmed her death with police.

She was discovered at her home by a friend. Her cause of death was not immediately clear, but police do not suspect foul play.

Sae-ron was a popular child star in her native South Korea after she starred in “A Brand New Life” at the age of 9. The film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, won several awards on the festival circuit.

She appeared in several other films and TV dramas over the years until she was found guilty of driving under the influence, derailing her career in 2022.

She took a hiatus from acting and was reportedly removed from several scenes in “Bloodhounds” as a result.

South Korean media reported that hefty fines — totaling 20 million won (slightly less than $14,000), according to Yonhap News Agency — from the DUI incident left her with financial troubles for the final two years of her life.

Prior to her death, she was beginning to restart her acting career and was set to star in “Guitar Man” later this year. Yonhap also reported that health issues caused her to pull back, however.
