Watch: Zach Edey emphatically dunks on Victor Wembanyama in Grizzlies vs Spurs game

SAN ANTONIO β€” Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey came out early in his matchup against San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama and made a statement.

Less than three minutes into the game, the 7-foot-4 Edey created a highlight by dunking over Wembanyama. The 290-pound Edey had the smaller Wembanyama battling for position while nearly under the basket. After gathering himself with the basketball, Edey turned around and forcibly dunked over the outstretched arms of Wembanyama.

Dunking over Wembanyama is no easy feat. The Spurs star is in his second NBA season, and for the second year in a row, he’s leading the NBA in blocks. Wembanyama is averaging 3.9 blocks per game, which easily clears the rest of the NBA. Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler is second in the league with 2.5 swats per game.

If anyone figures to dunk over Wembanyama, Edey makes as much sense as any player. Edey is the only current NBA player who is taller than Wembanyama.
